A very common pattern is that patients feel their skin is dull or aging, so they add more: a stronger retinoid, more acids, more exfoliation, vitamin C... sometimes all at once. That often backfires. Inflamed skin does not age better; it looks older, more uneven, and less healthy. The goal is to create an environment where the skin can renew itself effectively.

As we age, the rate at which skin cells turn over slows significantly. The communication between cells becomes less efficient. The signals that once triggered active renewal start to quiet down.
